Jim Kahn

After a successful career as a Software Engineer for Apple Computer, I launched Protégé Systems, a full service IT staffing and solutions company that provided turn-key software applications, project management and staff augmentation to Fortune 1000 companies. Protégé provided a comprehensive range of out-sourced and development solutions. We specialized in onsite consulting on a time and materials basis, off-site fixed bid development or offshore fixed bid software development through our facility in India. Protégé supported a number of prominent companies including: Amway, RLI Insurance, TIAA-CREF, American Medical Association, Johnson Controls, Iowa Beef Processors, Cargill and many more.  Over an eleven year period, I grew Protégé to over 150 employees with offices around the world.

I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and am still a season ticket holder and stockholder in the Green Bay Packers.  My career took me to Chicago, where I raised my three children who are all avid Packer fans.  I now reside with Brenda on the beautiful white sand beaches of Panama City Beach, Florida.

Abi Carmen here, formerly from Chicago but I finally smartened up and in 2003 I moved South and to Destin, Florida one of the most beautiful towns in the world. Aside from the more casual  atmosphere (compared to Chicago), Destin and the surrounding 15 little beach enclaves are home to some of the most gorgeous white sand beaches I have ever seen in the 18+ countries I have been to.

Starting my career in the Electronics arena, I spent five years at Columbia Pictures Industries, traveling all over the world taking care of all aspects of Technical Marketing for one of their subsidiaries. After a lot of hard work and travel I decided to get out on my own and started an Authorized Service Company called Laserworks focusing on the cutting edge technology (at the time) of Laser Disc and CD-Rom Players. My team repaired equipment for all sorts of businesses large and small but I concentrated on bringing in the larger customers and after a short time our customer base included the likes of UAW-General Motors, UAW-Chrysler, Lifetime Television, the Ray Crock Museum, the U.S. Navy, the National Parks Service and many more.

After 12 successful years in the LaserDisc business, along comes CD-Rom and then of course DVD and all the associated technologies. The cost to repair these products was more expensive then replacing them so I moved on to my next venture ‘The World Wide Web’. In 2003 I started our 1st Website and as of early 2011 we are now up to 145 sites in every industry and niche imaginable.

With four sons and one brand new granddaughter I value time spent with family. It’s not always easy as they are spread out in New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Florida but it is definitely rewarding. There is so much power within us all if we just figured out how to discover it or find a mentor to help us realize it. We were created for greatness, each of us in our own right, to touch and impact the lives of others. We were created with all the ‘stuff ‘ we need to succeed but somewhere along the way, we adopted belief systems that have kept us from reaching our full potential in life.
